St Adhelm's Academy

Vision and Values

At St Aldhelm's, we prepare our young people for the challenges of the real world and so the development of their character is as important as their academic outcomes. We want our students to leave us as confident, respectful and kind members of society so that they can flourish in any path of life they choose. We focus on our Trust wide core values of Courageous, Innovative and Excellent as these values sum up our ethos as a community and give our students a clear identity - not just for their time with us but, more importantly, well beyond it, into their careers and their everyday lives.

Courageous – we foster confidence, grit, and integrity: encouraging students to take risks, stand up for their beliefs, persevere through challenges.
Innovative – we embrace creativity, critical thinking, and new ideas to springboard progress and enhance learning.
Excellent – we set high standards in academics, character, and personal growth: inspiring dedication, hard work, and continuous improvement. Through these values, we create a learning environment where students develop the mindset, skills, and determination to build meaningful relationships, contributing to a positive, respectful, and thriving school culture.

PROUD

The St Aldhelm’s Way outlines expectations around:

  • How students enter lessons calmly and respectfully
  • How learning time is maximised through clear routines
  • How we treat each other with respect, kindness and support

The goal is to create a safe, structured and inspiring environment where everyone feels respected and valued—and has the tools to succeed in all aspects of life.

Students are expected to demonstrate positive behaviours which are conducive to learning and reflect the Academy values of Courageous, Innovative and Excellent. These behaviours are the pillars of our community and will be recognised through verbal and written praise. Character points are based on the following categories:

Respect
Courage

Kindness
Innovative
Organised
Leadership

Students who show this these traits in and out of the classroom will be acknowledged and rewarded.
