A Rights Respecting School
At St Aldhelm's Academy, we aim to place children's rights at the heart of our ethos and culture. Our goal is to improve student well-being and ensure that every child can develop their talents and abilities to their full potential. As part of this commitment, we are working towards becoming a UNICEF UK 'Rights Respecting School'—an award that recognises schools for embedding children’s rights into their values and practices.
UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation dedicated to the rights and well-being of children and young people. In 1989, countries around the world came together to adopt the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), recognizing that every child is entitled to the same fundamental rights. These rights ensure children can survive, grow, participate, and reach their full potential.
At St Aldhelm’s Academy, students will not only learn about these rights but also experience them in practice every day. A Rights Respecting School fosters a culture of mutual respect, where rights and respect are modeled in every relationship—between students, staff, and the wider school community.
We hope you will support us on our journey to becoming a UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School.
